5. The Attack On Steve Stoute, 1998
In 1998, Combs and two other men attacked Steve Stoute after the businessman, who at the time was Nas’ manager, mistakenly sent MTV a version of the video clip of the two rappers’ collaboration on ‘Hate Me Now.’. It contained footage of Diddy being crucified like Jesus Christ, but the rapper wanted the scene removed, so he became enraged when it aired. Stoute says Combs and two men invaded his New York office and attacked him with a bottle of champagne. The singer was charged with second-degree personal injury and vandalism. The businessman notes that the attack caused him to fracture his jaw and arm, but Combs denied breaking any bones on MTV, where he also said: “Basically, I went to his office and I can’t talk about what happened there, but I can say this: the way I behaved was wrong and I have apologized to Steve for that. “I felt like I let myself down.” Combs was sentenced to attend an anger management class.
