10. Parental Care
Subverting the image of ruthless reptiles, many crocodile and alligator species are surprisingly devoted parents. Mothers carefully guard their nests, fiercely protecting their young from predators. They even help hatchlings break out of their shells and carry them to the water in their mouths. This nurturing behavior ensures the survival of these prehistoric predators.
