39. Minnesota: Park Point Beach
Extending outward into the frigid, crystal-clear waters of Lake Superior, Park Point holds the title of the world’s longest freshwater sand spit. To reach the beach, visitors must cross Duluth’s iconic Aerial Lift Bridge. Once there, they are rewarded with panoramic views of the city skyline, rolling sand dunes covered in beach grass, and the expansive, ocean-like horizon of the largest Great Lake. It is a fantastic spot for summer swimming, beach volleyball, and watching massive international freighters pass by.
